SHOW PRESIDENT ROGER GEARY

WELCOME to the newlook

2006 Hunter On

Show.

With new dates, a

new name, a new logo

and excitement to burn,

this year's new-look

Hunter On Show promises

to be the biggest

show in recent years.

More rides, more exhibitors, more

animals, more entertainment, more

show bags and more value for money.

The 104-year-old Newcastle Regional

Show has adopted these changes to

bring a greater focus back to the traditional

elements of a show, with more

livestock, agricultural

and industrial

exhibitions

along with the fun

and excitement

of carnival rides

and show bags for

the kids and the

young at heart.

This is the biggest

event in the

Hunter calendar

by far.

The Newcastle

Show, now Hunter On Show, is the biggest

agricultural show in NSW outside

Sydney's Royal Easter Show.

If you count the competitors, exhibitors,

volunteers, performers and staff,

thousands of people are involved in the

presentation of the show.

We expect more than 60,000 people

to visit the show over the four days.

The vision of the show committee

is to deliver an appropriate platform

for the industries and businesses of

the Hunter to showcase their achievements,

as well as to provide the people

of the Hunter with an affordable form

of entertainment within a comfortable,

family-friendly environment.

The event also aims to benefit the

local economy with contractors such

as security, ride operators and logistical

support largely provided by Hunterbased

companies, and by employing

local people to ensure that revenue

remains in the Hunter Valley.

There is so much more to see and do

this year at Hunter On Show.

Agriculture is back in the agricultural

pavilion, bigger and better than ever,

with farm produce and crops grown

throughout the

region on display

and for sale.

Wood-chopping

will make a

welcome return

to our show on

Sunday after an

absence of several

years.

We have more

animals than

ever before with

cows, horses, pigs,

sheep, goats, alpacas, the animal nursery

and the All Breeds Championship Dog

Show. We even have the famous KOFM

Racing and Diving Pigs and, on Sunday,

dancing donkeys.

The Exhibition Centre is chock-ablock

with exhibits including art,

photography, handcrafts, cooking and

horticulture.

The Entertainment Centre is the focus

of the industrial exhibitions designed to

reflect the lifestyle and economy of the

Hunter Region, including the Tomago

Aluminium Hunter Showcase.

The show's major attraction this year

is The Lady Cannonball from the US.

This act will be performed twice daily

and is sure to be a thrilling demonstration.

There are more thrills scheduled for

centre ring with daily demonstrations

of the NEWFM Freestyle Motocross and

the extremely popular 2HD Bullarama,

while each night will end with the

spectacular AAPT Fireworks display.

We believe this event is and will

continue to be the hallmark event of

Newcastle and the Hunter.

This is a marvellous opportunity for

us to come together in a celebration of

our region and its achievements and I

look forward to seeing you there.
